The earnings season has picked up speed and much of the results have been disappointing, but there are some bright spots if you are paying attention. In these days were everything seems to be doom and gloom, we thought it would be a great time to highlight some campanies that are doing the right things in these challenging times.

IBM is Greatly Undervalued

The shares of IBM have been knocked down in line with the S&P 500 over the course of this brutal market year. Yet, Ockham Research sees increasing appeal in the shares of “Big Blue”. Selling at a discount to its historic price-to-sales and price-to-cash flow metrics, IBM, with its broad geographical diversification and its blue chip image, represents the kind of quality stock that should attract nervous investors in a rough market.

HP’s Acquisition of EDS Makes Sense

This morning Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) announced a deal to acquire Electronic Data Systems Corp. (EDS) for $13.9 billion dollars or $25 per share.
