Ockham Research Staff @ January 23, 2009 # No Comment Yet

Harley Davidson just reported on their tremendously painful fiscal 2008, but there is a real potential that things could indeed get worse. This is a case of a company that may be undervalued, but could potentially become an even cheaper stock over the next few quarters.

Ockham Research Staff @ January 21, 2009 # No Comment Yet

The earnings season has picked up speed and much of the results have been disappointing, but there are some bright spots if you are paying attention. In these days were everything seems to be doom and gloom, we thought it would be a great time to highlight some campanies that are doing the right things in these challenging times.

Intel’s Warnings Benefit Value Investors

Ockham Research Staff @ January 15, 2009 # No Comment Yet

Intel remains the dominate chip maker and even though sales and earnings have begun to slump, we think there is compelling value in Intel. After all, the company provides the brains for 80 percent of the world’s computers, and is positioned to benefit greatly as the economy turns around. It is not a bad idea to invest in an industry leader that is trading at 12 year lows because even if it gets worse before it gets better, you know that Intel will still be around when things do improve.

Goldman’s Results Foretell Trouble for Morgan Stanley

Ockham Research Staff @ December 16, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Goldman reported a wider than expected loss for their recent quarter, but the marketplace has brushed that aside and bid up the price more than 11 percent. We are concerned that Morgan Stanley might not get the same treatment if they are to slip up tomorrow.

Grocer Kroger Thriving in Recession

Ockham Research Staff @ December 9, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Kroger grocery stores reported earnings today that narrowly beat earnings and revenue estimates. The company raised guidance going forward as consumers are cooking at home more often during the recession; however, KR stock is selling off more than 7 precent at this time and it is approaching a very appealing valuation level.

Oh Come On! Is Toll Brothers Serious?

Ockham Research Staff @ December 5, 2008 # No Comment Yet

The newest beneficiary of a government bailout appears to be the home builders. Even as Toll Brothers reported a horrid fiscal year, the market pushed the stock higher as the rest of the market dropped. What is going on here? Where will it stop?

Starbucks Reinventing Itself, But Will Rise Again

Ockham Research Staff @ November 10, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Starbucks reported earning today that were a disappointment even during restructuring. Although, we believe there are legitimate reasons why the stock has fallen so low, those factors have been factored into the price. We think that this is a great long term opportunity for patient investors.

Honeywell Braces for Recession

Ockham Research Staff @ October 17, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Honeywell stock is getting beaten down today after reporting good (not great) earnings, but they also were very conservative in their guidance. We make the case that HON is one of the company’s that has been unjustly dragged down in negative market action and we think there is fairly good potential for value investors looking for a well run company at depressed valuations.

Ple{NTY} of Reasons to Take Your Vitamins

NBTY, formerly known as Nature’s Bounty, (Symbol: NTY) reported healthy sales gains for the quarter just ended. However, the stock took a dive after those quarterly results failed to live up to estimates. So, NBTY looks to be Undervalued, but we remain cuatious in this investing environment because overall market action is still decidedly negative.
