RT Revenue
For a long time, value investors have used the current share price relative to sales per share levels as an important valuation tool. We utilize a historical weighted average methodology that treats recent years more importantly in the calculation. When looking at RT through this framework, we can see that our weighted average historical high and low Price to Sales per share ratios over the last 10 years are 1.23x and 0.63x respectively.
Utilizing this range we can see that RT’s current Price to Sales per share ratio of 0.57x is significantly below its average levels historically. In fact, with a current price of $10.74, RT is a full 39% below its average Price to Sales ratio at comparable sales levels. This is a rare occurrence and, when taken in context of the other areas of our analysis, can be a strong positive for our outlook for RT.
RT Cash Earnings
Cash Earnings is always one of the most important factors to review for a company and, more importantly, an investment in a stock. RT is below its historical average multiple of Cash Earnings. Looking at the last 10 years we can get a good understanding of what investors have grown to expect from RT. For example, RT's Cash Earnings ratio per share has fluctuated between 5.09 and 11.91 over this historical timeframe. This range is based upon a proprietary weighted methodology at Ockham, but can clearly show an investor where RT is with respect to prior business periods.
So what does a Cash Earnings ratio below the historical norm mean for RT? Generally, RT's investors have paid slightly higher stock prices for this level of Cash Earnings, which bodes well as a return to historical norms is statistically likely. However, it is never a guarantee that history gives us proper direction, particularly in fluctuating market cycles. So by utilizing a long term view and incorporating other areas of analysis (like Sales, Dividends, and management analysis), each investor can gain a more complete view of RT. Remember, that the average Cash Earnings level for RT has been 8.50, so the current Cash Earnings level of 7.31 is a positive in our view, but by no means is it overwhelming.
RT Dividends
When determining a company's future prospects for success, Ockham Research sees analysis of dividend payments as a key additional factor. Even though it isn't imperative for RT to shell out a dividend in order to receive a positive rating, it can be helpful to further our analysis.
Ruby Tuesday, Incorporated Georgia News Appeared on Zero Hedge
Ruby Tuesday, Incorporated Georgia is one of the thousands of companies that Ockham has news analytics on, and it was recently discussed on Zero Hedge.
Ruby Tuesday, Incorporated Georgia received our Fairly Valued rating in our latest report because the price at the time of the report of $8.92 did not seem out of line with the fundamentals. The price has risen since then and all other things being equal that makes RT less attractive. Due to deterioration in our valuation, we downgraded RT as of Saturday, March 06, 2010. While bearish sentiment on a stock is not always a bad thing, it is something you need to be aware of.
