One quick note, in the book I talk about this, when bear stearns was imploding, remember he was one of the few bidders, there was an analysis inside JPMORGAN about what would happen if they just let bear stearns in march of 2008 die, not even pick him up for $2 a share. They believed at that point there were people inside JPMORGAN that were advocating let bear stearns fail. Because JPMORGAN would come back and pick up all the pieces. Sorted of a scavenger, basically running the rest of wall street. >> iman, do you think there are some on capitol hill, by the way barney frank was quoted by your paper just a few days ago, mentioning jamie dimon specifically, more highly regarded than some of the “… for $2 a share. WMT
$53.20 Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
Too Much Debt? See What Street Signs Says About Wal-Mart Stores, Incorporated At Ockham, we look to make sure that any debt taken on by a company corresponds directly to increases is sales. Take a look at RazorWire for the latest on WMT's debt from Street Signs. >>> WALMART is stepping into the breach left by cit's bankruptcy and helping its 60,000 suppliers get credit. This could be a huge shift in the entire lending market to be honest and michelle caruso-cabrera has the details. Michelle? >> it's a new program that we're learning about today, erin, and it speaks to still the difficult state of the credit markets for a lot of the small companies out they have a new program for the 60,000 suppliers to WALMART. Normally if you are a supplier to WALMART, it takes you 60 to 90 days to get paid. Under this new program only 10 say you produce 1,000 widgets and WALMART owes you $1,000. You take that invoice and you bring it to one of WALMART's partner banks, either we wills fargo or citigroup, they give you the money instead and then they wait to get paid by what's key here is the interest rate that they're going to charge those small suppliers is going to be based on WALMART's aa credit rating, so the interest rate will be presumably lower than if the lender had to go to a local bank. This is called eded factoring. Cit used to do it all the time. This is probably WALMART's effort to fill that void and you wonder does it become permanent when cit comes out of bankruptcy, if indeed it does, do they find out they have a huge competitor that they didn't have before? >> goes to show maybe the markets are more resilient than sometimes regulators give them credit for. “… that we're learning about today, erin, and it speaks to still the difficult state of the credit markets for a lot of the small companies out they have a new program for the 60,000 suppliers to WALMART.
